Yarn Bases

Pure Merino
Our merino yarn is 100% organic and a fine 20.5 micron count. This means a beautifully bouncy, squishy yarn that has all the warmth and softness that merino wool is famous for. This non-superwash yarn will hold its shape, even after blocking. The 3 or 4 ply construction is a nicely balanced yarn that creates smooth round stitches in stockinette and is great for cables and stitch definition. Perfect for sweaters, shawls, hats, blankets etc.
100% organic 20.5 micron count merino, non-superwash.

BFL Sock
Our BFL is wool from the British Blue Faced Leicester sheep, known for its longer staple, curly wool. The longer staple length of the wool means it retains strength, and is durable with less pilling. The tight curls of the wool means great memory and will hold it’s shape compared to merino wool. Longer staple wool also has a slight sheen to it, although not quite as next-to-skin soft as merino. This is a great alternative sock yarn to a merino/nylon blend. Superwash means you can throw it in the washing machine without fear of felting and hang or lay flat to dry (although I always recommend hand-washing even for Superwash yarns)
100% superwash British BFL
- Sock/Fingering weight: 4-ply, 438 yds(400m)/100g ($32)
Glitter
Who doesn't need a little glitter in our yarn? Glitter is a bouncy superwash Merino in a great 2-ply construction - and features Gold Stellina to give it that subtle sparkle. 2-ply yarn is perfect for lace where you want the yarn to naturally open up to show off the lacework. Great drape for shawls.
75% superwash merino, 20% nylon, 5% gold stellina
- Glitter Fingering: 438 yds(400m)/100g ($30)
2-Ply
Our 2-Ply is the same construction as Glitter, without the nylon and stellina. 2-ply yarn gives your fabric more texture and visual movement. Great drape for shawls. Our 100% merino fingering weight option at 400 yds/100g is on the plumper side.
100% superwash merino
- 2-Ply Fingering: 400 yds(366m)/100g ($30)
Suri Fluff
Suri Alpaca is a great alternative to mohair - it has the fluffy halo, a bit of shine due to the silk core, and all the warmth of the suri alpaca. This lace weight suri has a generous 437 yds in 50g, and pairs well if you hold it together with a fingering weight yarn. Some people find suri alpaca a tad less prickly compared to mohair.
75% baby suri alpaca/25% mulberry silk, non-superwash
- Lace weight: 459 yds(419m)/50g ($32)
Cotton Wool
This yarn is perfect for warmer weather knitting! It is a blend of 50% Pima Cotton, and 50% fine 21.5 micron superwash Merino Wool. The cotton is great for warmer climates, while the wool gives it enough elasticity so it is still comfortable to knit with. Your knitted fabric will have great drape, and the 4 ply construction will show texture nicely. The cotton in the yarn doesn’t absorb acid dyes, so there is a slightly heathered effect when hand-dyed.

- Fingering weight: 437 yds(399m)/100g ($30)
- DK weight: 246yds (225m)/100g ($30)
Silky
This silky yarn is an ultra luxurious blend of 70% baby alpaca, 20% silk and 10% cashmere - so it is smooth, soft and has a gorgeous sheen. There is also a bit of halo and has a very drapey hand. This yarn is slippery due to the silk and alpaca, so don’t forget to leave long ends to weave in! This is a non-superwash yarn, so I recommend hand-wash, lay flat to dry.
70% baby alpaca, 20% silk, 10% cashmere, non-superwash
- Fingering weight: 3-ply, 437 yds(399m)/100g ($38)
- DK weight: 3-ply, 246 yds(225m)/100g ($38)
Velvet Merino
Velvet Merino is a unique 100% US Mercerized Merino. Mercerization improves the hand and sheen of the wool, increasing its luster, softness and strength. The process is similar to superwash, in which the scales are removed, then a thin layer of micro-silicone is applied. This helps the fibers remain smooth, so people who find even the finest merino a bit prickly might give this a try!
An additional benefit is it enables our mill to offer a 100% US merino - sheep from ranches in the US Rocky Mountains, and wool milled and processed in South Carolina. This makes the US sourced 20-21 micron merino feel cashmere soft as a 18 micron count merino. This is yarn bouncy, squishy and unbelievably soft to the skin - with the benefit of easy care of a superwash.
100% superwash merino
- Fingering weight: 4-ply, 450 yds (411m)/100g ($32)

Merino Cashmere Silk
This luxurious blend adds a touch of silk and cashmere to an extra fine superwash merino, resulting in a beautifully soft yarn with a slight sheen. This blend is so soft against the skin and would be amazing for garments or shawls. The silk would provide some strength and could be considered an alternative to nylon for a luxe pair of socks!
